For my Speeches and texts I use a simple straightforward flash-based player called JW FLV MediaPlayer
I also give users the option to load the soundfile, the mp3 in their own favorite mediaplayer to have a bit more control: stop, start, play back, fast forward etc.
This can be very helpful to replay and re-read a sentence or a paragraph for better understanding. Using this option will open however a new window.
Dependent on your mediaplayer, it will be a little bit worky to arrange the windows on your desktop in a way which will enable you to listen- have your finger at the controls- and read all at the same time!
For pages with a lot of soundfiles (like the page with all the songs) I use Yahoo's Mediaplayer.
