Title: Leeuwarden, Exchange
Caption: Leeuwarden [prov. of Friesland] Exchange, bourse at the town of Leeuwarden. Was built between 1878-1880 by the architect Th. Romein. On friday's, butter, cheese was traded here: the best you could get in the Netherlands. Later also trade of grain, corn, potatoes and pulse. In the 1950's it was also used for concerts and exhibitions. In 1980 the complete Bourse was converted into a public library. Photo by Sijbren Sijtsma,April 2005.
